COLLABORATED WITH OUR COMMUNITY.
Where we expanded on our core value to uplift and collaborate with creatives, small businesses, and organizations.
AMPLIFIED UNTOLD STORIES AND VOICES.
This year at ComplexCon we introduced Cambodian/Khmer history to new audiences through our ‘Did You Know’ labels on a Limited Edition Made in Long Beach T-shirt. This was in collaboration with United Cambodian Community — a Long Beach based org.
NO TEE LEFT BEHIND.
We continued to develop limited edition 100% upcycled GOODS with trusted voices in sustainabILITY like Rewilder. We are also introducing upcycling techniques across our core collection. Lastly, you can find discounted goods with minor imperfections in our ‘Imperfect’ section on weareuprisers.com
DESTIGMATIZING MENTAL HEALTH.
We continued working with our friends at Changing Tides, an advocacy group for AAPI youth mental health by producing this year’s Ripple Effect: Walk for Suicide Prevention t-shirts. 100% of the proceeds went towards Changing Tides' efforts in suicide prevention and mental health resources! We also recorded 4 podcast episodes with DESIGNERS and mental health advocates at UPRISERS Family Drive. Guests included Yellow Chair Collective, a collective of board certified therapists serving Asian American and multicultural clients.
CELEBRATED UNTOLD STORIES AND VOICES.
This year we celebrated awesome people like Jean Seizure from Singapore, Oscar Utierre, Jeff Yamazaki, Adrian Per, and so many more!
WE CELEBRATED UNTOLD STORIES AND VOICES
We hosted over half a dozen events and panels celebrating different communities including our Family Portrait Day, Flower Market Pop-up, our Neighborhood Meetup in Los Angeles and Brooklyn, and three community panels at Family Drive.
HONORED OUR ROOTS.
At ComplexCon we paid homage to Mike Murase, a longtime activist who co-founded an Asian American publication called Gidra in the 1960s at UCLA.
Community impact made possible because of our incredible community. We wouldn’t be here without your voice, your story, your commitment to create change.
We are continuing to offer FREE mystery boxes as a small token of appreciation for your feedback until early January 2024. CLICK HERE to complete our 2023 END OF YEAR SURVEY so that we can continue to create impact in our communities.
