Women's History Month Highlights

Mar 01, 2021Christine Kim

March 1st marked the beginning of Women's History Month!

This March, we wanted to focus on the UPRISERS women who inspire our team and continue to be trailblazers in their respective industries. While a month is not long enough to amplify the stories that our amazing women emulate, every day is an opportunity to highlight women and the cool sh*t they're doing to make this world a better place.

Asia Jackson

Asia Jackson is one who needs no introduction. As a trailblazing actress and digital creative, she originated the viral global movement #MagandangMorenx, which challenges colorism and celebrates diversity in the Filipino culture. Whether it is in acting, YouTube or speaking events, her work involves elevating visibility and representation of marginalized people. She not only talks the talk but most certainly walks the walk.

"No one can tell us who we are." – Asia Jackson. Thank you for putting in the work day in and day out. We are continually inspired by your legacy to define beauty on your own terms🔥

Laci Jordan

Multi-disciplinary designer and creative director from Huntsville, Alabama currently living in L.A., @solacilike is taking the creative space by force. From graphic design, illustration, photography, web design, curation and more she embodies the renaissance woman (her work speaks for itself!) She has worked with companies such as Walt Disney Imagineering, ABC and most currently Creative Artists Agency. Her projects include creating art for Calvin Klein, Footlocker, New York Times, EPSN The Undefeated, Hypebeast, the list goes on. Her passion to create is rooted in the lack of visibility of black creatives– especially black women. So like the pioneering woman she is, she's creating the representation that we normally don't see. And she does it with phenomenal style🔥

Tway Nguyen

Chef, content creator and foodie @twaydabae is taking the food industry by storm. From teaching us how to make coconut condensed milk to seafood boil pasta and bánh xèo, she effortlessly does it all. She's taking easy recipes to a whole new meaning – intimidation free and accessible for everyone. And what's cooking without a little... or in Tway's case a whole lot of fun?😎

Pursuing a path in culinary wasn't her initial career path. She always wanted to be a nurse, until it was time for college applications when she impulsively decided to attend culinary school – it was a calling. (Thank goodness she followed her heart!) She's now blessing our feeds and kitchens with her one-of-a-kind energy and gotta-try recipes. She has appearances on Thrillist's Send Foodz with @timchantarangsu and @davidsocomedy, Champs Sports, and Youtube video collabs with her mom, @foodwithsoy and @rickyshucks just to name a few.
