Celebrating #AAPIHeritageMonth! We recognize the contributions and influences of the pioneering AAPI leaders who came before us. They rendered the blueprints for us to learn and follow 👣
From the resolution of API Heritage Week in 1977 to the month-long celebration signed into law in 1992, our AAPI leaders believed in the importance to pay tribute to the generations who have enriched America's history and are instrumental in our future success.
Why May? To commemorate the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States on May 7, 1843 and mark the anniversary of the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869 – majority of the workers were Chinese immigrants.
For the leaders who led by example, we'll continue to expand and grow from the roots of our heritage 🌿 This month – and every month – propelling representation and inclusion of all Pacific Islanders and South, West, East, and Central Asians.
