When you think of the word “family,” what comes to mind? For many, it is about blood relations—parents, siblings, and cousins.
At UPRISERS, we believe family is about connection, shared values, and showing up for one another. That’s the heart of the UPRISERS® Family Drive, our annual event rooted in community and belonging.
For our founder, Michelle K. Hanabusa, this journey began in the most personal of places: her own backyard. UPRISERS® Family Drive grew from a desire to gather community members from all walks of life. Whether they were from the music industry, arts, fashion, or culinary world, folks came together to reflect on the issues that mattered most in their communities.
At the core of these gatherings was one simple, powerful question:
“How do we show up and give back?”
From those early days, the Family Drive grew into something much larger—a platform to engage, inspire, and connect. Today, it continues to bring people closer, fostering the kind of connections that transform strangers into family.
Because at the end of the day, family isn’t just about blood. It’s about the bonds we build, the ways we show up for one another, and the communities we create together.
Join us in asking the same question that started it all:
How will you show up and give back?
