ABOUT THE UPRISERS x JOSH LIN COLLABORATION
The UPRISERS x Josh Lin Capsule is a collaborative endeavor, transcending language barriers and spanning multiple time zones, to transform Josh’s illustrations into an UPRS 2.0 upcycling piece. By repurposing 3-4 discarded t-shirts, we hand-sewed each panel together to craft a one-of-a-kind t-shirt piece that seamlessly blends cultures, designs, communities, and materials.
This exclusive capsule collection features the Ltd Edition UPRISERS x Josh Lin Upcycled Reversible Dragon T-Shirt and Prayer Sterling Silver Keyring, set to debut across the globe and will be released across continents at ComplexCon Hong Kong and at Neuehouse Hollywood in Los Angeles.
UPRISERS founder Michelle K. Hanabusa works with downtown LA based Selvyn to bring the vision to life.
THE UPRS 2.0 PROCESS
In 2021 UPRISERS, with the support and collaborative efforts with REWILDER - a 100% upcycling company based in Los Angeles - we launched our inaugural TEE 2.0 (renamed UPRS 2.0 in 2024), a sustainable design process that repurposes discarded materials into one-of-a-kind fashion pieces.
Every UPRS 2.0 is pieced together entirely out of unwanted tees, saving 13.2 pounds of CO2 (equivalent to walking instead of driving from the Santa Monica pier to Staples Center!) The process is labor-intensive, requiring a collective effort to gather old tees, take them apart, and re-piece them into a new form.
The process behind UPRS TEE 2.0
UPRISERS x JOSH LIN COLLABORATION is a continuation of the journey we began in 2021 to explore a delicate balance of community, sustainability and culture across our product designs and campaigns.
YEAR OF THE DRAGON
This design by Josh Lin is very special to us because the Year of Dragon artwork resonates with a theme of balance that is prominent in Josh Lin’s work. His art explores the impact of the duality between our head and our heart, the IQ vs the EQ, the battle played out between good and evil.
BUT it was not just Josh Lin’s dedication to his craft that caught our eye but it was learning about his dedication to his community that began the conversation around our present day collaboration. Every year Josh Lin takes time to support breast cancer survivors by inking realistic nipples on their chest transforming their reconstructed breast to its pre-surgery state. It is with great admiration that we are inspired by his contribution of knowledge and skills to give back to people in need.
Artists that are finding ways to utilize their skill set for something good — this is the type of VOICE that we are dedicated to amplifying at UPRISERS.
UPRISERS is GLOBAL.
